Students, young people, teachers, and advocates each carry their own lived wisdom about the journey you’re stepping into. Their reflections offer clarity, comfort, and perspective as you begin.

Take a moment to read through their experiences — you may find exact insight
you didn’t know you were looking for.

You can save the whole world later but first you must help your own child!

Find and focus on their strengths and then work to help them reach their highest potential through specific remediation using OG/Science of Reading, by getting out in nature, exercise, and get the appropriate accommodations in place immediately.

~ Kelly, Dyslexia Expert Stratgist

I was so overwhelmed when I figured out my son was dyslexic - I fronzen.  Trust me, it is not a death sentence.  You can help your child to be anything they dream of with lots of hard work from all.

~ John, Parent

Our Elementary Education majors have no training in Dyslexia.  They are completely unprepared when they graduate and begin teaching in the classroom.  They cannot identify or remediate dyslexia.

~ Ann, Montana State University Dean of Education / Professor

The next part of my journey happened in sixth grade.  In my middle school, they created two classes to help students with strategies for math and reading for New Jersey's standardized test, NJASK.  I remember being so frustrated with the speed at which the class was taught, and I found it very difficult to keep up with the other students.  This frustration led to me questioning, once again, why I was so "slow".  I communicated my thoughts in an email to my mom that said: "Hi mom. I hate school, I hate tests, and I hate homework.  My homework and schoolwork is very hard to me.  My brain does not want to think.  My brain is going down the tube.  I need a break from school. Love, Willie

~ Willie, Student

Dyslexia students must be taught in a systematic way.  Orton Gillingham is the only scientifically proven method to produce positive results for dyslexic students.

~ Tracy, Dyslexia Expert DTI

Dyslexia is not a pigeonhole to say you can’t do anything. It is an opportunity and a possibility to learn differently.

~ Princess Beatrice, Patron of Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity

Your son is so bright.  He is one of the most intelligent kids I have met.  I am not sure why I am tutoring him. His divergent, critical thinking is his strength.
